A consultant to defunct western Pennsylvania soft-drink company, Le-Nature's, will spend 10 years in federal prison for his role in a massive accounting fraud.

Fifty-five-year-old Andrew Murin, of McMurray, was sentenced Thursday based on a June guilty plea to mail fraud in the scam that cost lenders, investors and vendors more than $ 650 million.

Murin told the judge he would have "quit on the spot" if he knew the full extent of the fraud masterminded by former CEO Gregory Podlucky, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison last week. Essentially, Podlucky had consultants and key executives cook the company's books so he could borrow more money, much of which he spent lavishly before Le-Nature's was forced into bankruptcy in 2006.

Prosecutors disputed Murin's claims that he wanted to cooperate before a federal indictment.
