Baton Rouge woman accused of I-10 scam

CROWLEY, La. (AP) - A 32-year-old Baton Rouge woman has been arrested by Crowley police and another woman is being sought in what police say was a scam that hit four cities along Interstate 10.

Police Chief K.P. Gibson says police arrested Lykendra Givens on charges of two counts of felony theft by fraud and issued an arrest warrant for Ebony Givens, also of Baton Rouge.

Gibson says the women traveled along I-10 on three weekends this month, using a payroll card to steal funds from retailers.

A payroll card is a plastic card similar to a debit card that allows an employee to access their pay.

Gibson did not release additional details about the alleged scam, or where besides Crowley the pair may have struck.
