LANSING - Police surround homes in a south Lansing neighborhood, after receiving a call about a hostage situation. The alert turned out to be a hoax. Dispatchers received a call around 7 o'clock Friday morning that stated two men with guns had entered a home in the 5800 block of Hughes Road and were holding people hostage. Police blocked the street and inquired with homeowners, who reported no such incident. An investigation concluded this was an online hoax, that used a communication service for the hearing impaired to make the false report. Police are working to track the actual source of the call.
