New Ulm High School bomb threat determined a hoax
NEW ULM - New Ulm High School was cleared Friday of a discovered bomb threat, which was determined to be a hoax.
The threat was found Thursday afternoon in a folded piece of paper in the school's main entrance. The message read, "To whoever finds this: I'm going to bomb the school. 3/2/12."
The school responded by extensively searching its grounds Thursday night and check every backpack, purse and coat of incoming students on Friday. Enhanced police presence was also present at the school.
No bomb was discovered during the searches, so the message was deemed a hoax.
District 88 Superintendent Harold Remme said the school is working closely with police to track down the who wrote the message. He said they have no leads so far.
"We took [the threat] seriously. As of now, we consider the situation to be all clear," said Remme.
