Hoax letters question voter eligibility in SW Fla.

NAPLES, Fla. (AP) - The supervisor of elections in Collier County says some residents have received letters that question their citizenship eligibility to vote.

Jennifer Edwards told the Naples Daily News (http://bit.ly/Ru2EIX ) Monday that she's heard from five voters who received letters. She says the letters misrepresent her office.

East Naples resident Wayne Hoss told the newspaper he received his letter on Saturday and immediately knew it was a hoax because he was born in the United States. He also says the envelope didn't have an official return address.

Hoss says the letter included a form seeking personal information, including Social Security and driver's license numbers.

The newspaper reports Edwards' signature is not on the hoax letter. The letter also does not include contact information for the supervisor's office.
