KSP: Bomb scare in Tompkinsville on Thursday was a hoax

GLASGOW — Kentucky State Police said the Monroe County bomb scare that occurred Thursday was a hoax.

"We know it's a hoax because we found no devices and there was no explosion," said Trooper Billy Gregory, public information officer for the Kentucky State Police in Columbia.

The state police have not arrested anyone for making the prank phone calls, but are continuing their investigation.

Gregory could not talk about the specifics of the investigation.

"We hope to know something by next week," he said.

The person or persons responsible for the bomb scare could face a charge of terroristic threatening, which is a Class C felony, he said.

There were five bomb threats made Thursday within a few minutes of each other to three Tompkinsville restaurants — Sonic Drive-In, McDonalds and Subway, — plus one to the county attorney's office and to Tompkinsville Elementary.

College Place Police Call Walmart Bomb Threat a Phony

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. - College Place Police are investigating an apparent bomb threat hoax at Walmart over the weekend.   Saturday night, police say the College Place Walmart called 911, reporting a bomb threat the store received, set to go off at 6:19 on Sunday morning. Officers and the College Place Fire Department arrived on scene and evacuated the store just before 1 AM that night. Officers and firefighters stayed there overnight blocking the doors, and didn't allow customers or employees back in until 7 AM.   Police say 6:19 came and went, but nothing exploded, no one got hurt, and they couldn't find any sort of explosive device, leading officers to believe the incident was an apparent hoax.
