Hoax? Marriage Proposal Rejected on “The Ellen Degeneres Show” [Video]

Jacob Waterdale proposed to his girlfriend yesterday on "The Ellen Degeneres Show." After the talk show host read a letter to his girlfriend Jodi, Waterdale emerged from behind the curtain, got down on one knee, and was rejected in front of a live audience.

Ellen saved the moment by turning the audience's attention to her 12 Days of Giveaways.

But was it all a hoax?

According to TooFab, Waterdale's proposal, and the following rejection, was all a hoax. Apparently Jacob's name is actually Ross and he's part of Ellen's staff. Ross reportedly helped with a similar prank last year. (See below.)

Ellen also seemed pretty nonchalant about the whole episode. On Youtube, the show writes:

"Ellen had a surprise for a member of her audience with a proposal. It didn't seem to be going too well, but thankfully, it was the 12 Days of Giveaways!"

Here's the video of Jacob Waterdale's wedding proposal on "Ellen."

Jacob, or Ross, tried to propose to his wife last year, but Ellen apparently brought the wrong woman on stage.

There are two lessons here. One, don't propose on national TV. Two, don't trust tall bald men on Ellen.

Did you think the hoax wedding proposal was funny?
