A security alert in Crumlin, County Antrim, has ended.

The Largy Road had been closed between the Ballyclan Road and Gortnagallon Road following the discovery of a suspicious object.

The police have now described it as a hoax.

The road has re-opened. A number of residents, who had been moved out of their houses, have been allowed to return home.

A horse racing event taking place nearby was not affected by the alert.
