Reward offered in bomb hoax that nixed parent-teacher meetings at Westminster school
Westminster police tonight said a bomb hoax at Standley Lake High School before a scheduled round of parent-teacher conferences was nothing to laugh at.
The department is asking anyone with information to come forward, and Crime Stoppers is offering a $ 2,000 reward.
A bomb threat found on a note at the Westminster school prompted at evacuation at 3:15 p.m., and for two and half hours law enforcement from several agencies, including bomb-sniffing dogs, searched the campus.
No explosives were found, and the parent-teacher conferences, set to begin at 4 p.m., were cancelled.
"Police respond to these types of threats very seriously and devoted approximately 25 law enforcement personnel to the incident," Westminster police said in a statement tonight.
"The demand on law enforcement spread across the metro area. K9 were requested from the Aurora Police Department, Arvada Police Department, Adams County Sheriff, Boulder County Sheriff and Golden Police Department. Jefferson County Schools devoted an additional 20 faculty members to assist the police department."
